Chalfant who possibly invented the term &#8221;oracle bones&#8221;, a designation that may have influenced the Chinese expression \u7532\u9aa8 <em>jiagu<\/em>. Today we present an early modern Chinese book on exactly this topic, <a href=\"https:\/\/baike.baidu.com\/item\/\u6731\u82b3\u5703\/2232543\">Zhu Fangpu&#8217;s (1895-1973) <em>Jiaguxue wenzibian <\/em>\u7532\u9aa8\u5b78\u6587\u5b57\u7de8<\/a> from 1933. The last ten years of his life he returned to his native Hunan after developing cataracts, but continued to work hard and left much unpublished material when he passed away, only a fraction of which have been published posthumously.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday I mentioned Frank H.
