Qiliying \u4e03\u91cc\u8425 (Chiliying in Wade-Giles transcription) was a commune \u516c\u793e from 1958 to 1983, and is today a town in Xinxiang county \u65b0\u4e61\u53bf, under Xinxiang City \u65b0\u4e61\u5e02, a prefecture-level city in Henan province \u6cb3\u5357\u7701. It is actually an interesting historical site as the Battle of Muye \u7267\u91ce\u4e4b\u6218 took place somewhere in the vicinity in the year 1046 BCE, almost 3000 years ago. Mao Zedong made a personal visit to this commune in 1958, and Qiliying must have been a &#8221;model&#8221; commune that was shown to visitors. However, the &#8221;Criticize Lin, Criticize Confucius&#8221; campaign \u6279\u6797\u6279\u5b54\u8fd0\u52a8 was raging through the country, and the Gang of Four \u56db\u4eba\u5e2e with Jiang Qing \u6c5f\u9752 were in control with Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai both in bad health. Still we learn from the flap text &#8221;how the Communist Part of China leads her peasants forward in conformity with Chairman Mao Tsetung&#8217;s revolutionary line, and how socialist ideas take ever deeper root in countless hearts and minds&#8221;.
